The Level 5 Diploma is recognised by regulatory bodies such as the Care Quality Commission (CQC) as a requirement for anyone looking to undertake a Registered Manager position. Are you looking to progress in your career and want to obtain a social care diploma qualification at level 3 or 4? Or perhaps you are already a registered care manager, deputy manager or aspiring to be, and are still to obtain your level 5 Diploma?

Advanced Learner Loans

If you are interested in undertaking a Level 3, 4 or 5 Diploma we can also provide you with access to Advanced Learner Loans. If you are 19 or over when your course starts and have lived in the UK for at least 3 years you could be entitled to an Advanced Learner Loan. This government funded scheme pays your Access Skills course fees for you so you can start your programme immediately.

There are no credit checks and your income is not assessed when you apply for the loan. You are not required to make any repayments of the loan until you are earning over £27,295 per annum. Where repayment occurs, you start to repay in April of the year after your course is completed, but only if you are earning more than £27,295pa at that time. If your earnings are below this, then you are not required to repay anything until earning more than £27,295pa.

If earning more than £27,295pa then repayments once the course is completed are calculated at 9% of the income earned above this sum i.e. if earning £29,000pa repayment would only be £12.77pcm.

New funding scheme launched replacing the Workforce Development Fund

The new fund for adult social care employee development was launched on the 6th September 2024.

Eligible adult social care employers in England can claim staff training costs from the Adult Social Care Learning and Development Support Scheme (LDSS). The LDSS is available for non-regulated care staff, including deputy and Care Quality Commission-registered managers and agency staff, within the adult social care workforce.

Eligible Adult Social Care (ASC) employers can claim funding for training courses and qualifications on behalf of eligible care staff. This funding is for eligible courses and qualifications that have been paid for and started between 1 April 2024 and 21 March 2025.

Examples of the funding available includes employers now able to receive £815 funding in relation to the level 3 Diploma in Adult Care or £1525 for the level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Adult Care. In addition, there is up to £1500 available for the new Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate.

ASC employers will be provided with access to the service in stages. ASC employers can express their interest in being invited to use the service by completing this form. After expressing interest via this form ASC employers will be contacted by NHS Business Service Authority to start the onboarding process.
